Well, here’s my first go

Well, here’s my first go at online journaling. I am currently in the midst of writing an outline for my Self-Reflection Paper for my seminary class. I’d thought I’d take a break and set up my very own blog. I’m sure as time goes on, I will become more aware of all of the options I have with this site, but for now, we’ll stick with the basics. Many thanks to Jed Brewster for inspiring me to blog.

I’ve many things to write about… many random musings I’ve had lately. They all seem to come back to the role of the Spirit in some way, shape or form.

I want to emphasize Him in my own life, give appropriate credence to His existence, but I am not sure on how.

Where does prophecy play a role today? Laying on of hands? (My recent reading of 1 and 2 Timothy have contributed to my curiousity).

How does the Spirit influence prayer?

I’ve graduated from a conservative evangelical Bible college, and yet, I am still wondering if we’ve really nailed the whole “Spirit-baptism thing.” What did John mean when he said Jesus would baptize with fire? Is that limited to Pentecost alone? I was taught “Open-but-cautious.” However, where I’m at now feels more like “Cautious-but-willing-to-be-open-if-you-can-twist-my-arm-and-really-prove-it.”

Is being “slain in the Spirit” legitimate (valid, real, of God)?

If a person being “slain in the Spirit” is legitimate, what purpose does it serve?

I’m just at a point of asking lots of questions right now. Perhaps they will be answered in the coming weeks. Maybe never. We’ll see. If you want to contribute and enlighten me, by all means, please do.

Grace and peace.
