Review of NBC last night

April 14, 2005

Alrighty.  Ended up watching "The Secrets of the Code" last night prior to "Revelations."  The Secrets of the Code confirmed something for me once again: this world is full of psychos and weirdos.  What a bunch of crap.  I am pleased that NBC ended up where it did (showing that there is no historical fact for any of it), but boy, it sure took em a while to get there.  They didn’t come to that conclusion until about 3 minutes left, so for the first 50+ minutes, I was thinking Stone Phillips and the gang at NBC had too much to drink that day…

As for Revelations, well, I’m not entirely sure what to say.  We watched bits and pieces of it, interspersed with quick changes over to American Idol.  I would comment on its intrepretations and such, but to be honest, we didn’t watch a whole lot of it cause it was as slow as molasses dripping from the barrel on a cool Southern morning.  As far as I can tell, the first "episode" was just setting the stage for the rest of it.  Not too much intrepretative stuff going on.  One of the ads for it had the gal quoting from Matt 24 (or is it 25?) about wars and rumours of wars.  The first part of that passage is actually about the siege on Jerusalem that came in 70AD, but it’s a confusing passage.  So I won’t get too worked up about that.  Who knows if Steph and I will watch anymore.  Besides, our local NBC affiliate is showing the second installment next Thursday instead of next Wednesday cause it has to show the Blazers game.  And you don’t mess with Survivor and The Apprentice in our household…

If you’re looking for a show with some real interesting moral dilemmas (although no wacky scriptural misquotes) I highly recommend “House” on Fox. It’s my new favorite show, I think. And it’s right after Idol. Double Whammy.

Yeah, I’ve been intrigued by the ads and the premise of House… but I’ve never really voiced that at home (knowing that Steph probably wouldn’t like it). Maybe I’ll have to speak up.

Is it on Tuesdays or Wednesdays?

Last night I was channel surfing in the void that was created by the fact that “Lost” was a rerun. I landed on the secrets of the code for a minute and Allison said, “We can’t watch that it’ll just make me mad.”

“Yeah, but I’m curious what they have to say about the whole thing…”

“We CAN’T WATCH THAT IT’LL JUST MAKE ME MAD.”

Clearly my best option was to let the pregnant woman win. They ARE known to tear people’s arms out of their sockets when they lose.

House is on Tuesdays… and quite frankly, if she can stand the ridiculousness of Apprentice or Survivor…

I mean, really, if you’re gonna go reality… just go all the way and watch Dog The Bounty Hunter. THAT’S an eye-opener.

Heh, great minds think alike, I guess. I’m glad I wasn’t the one only one who thought the pace was lagging. And to be honest, I don’t even feel like I’m allowed to comment on it that much since I was…well, sleeping, for most of it. =)
