Portland Lumberjax

July 20, 2005

PortlandlumberjaxlogoProfessional Indoor Lacrosse is coming to Portland.  I’m excited.  Saw it being played on ESPN2 late at night a few times.  It’s intense.  High scoring.  Rough.  And the tickets are actually reasonably priced.

Unfamiliar with lacrosse?  It’s a crazy twist between basketball, hockey and soccer.  Here’s an overview and brief run down of the rules.  For the hard core, here’s the rule book from 2004.

The team’s website can be found at either or  I’d like to make it to a game or two.  Who’s with me?

Caught an amatur indoor game in Vacouver,BC. Good times, suprisingly violent. Count me in.

Excellent. For the price of a decent upper level seat at a Blazers game, we could sit right next to the field at the Lumberjax game. I can’t wait. I would totally pay $25 to be right next to the action.

I’m gonna go Molo on this one and point out that “Lumber Jacks” are two words that refer to persons of a specific occupation and “Lumberjax” refers to the void in the minds shaped by current marketing trends (or if you prefer, nothing at all).

I’ll be making the drive down from Seatown to catch some games. NLL games are good fun; I used to go to NY Saints games before they folded back in the day.

Here’s some NLL video links for anybody who’s curious:
