Found another one

March 31, 2006

Found another online Bible. But this one is different.

Con: it only has old school versions like the Revised Standard and the KJV, etc.

Pro: it has an option to take out the verse numbering and section headers and all the other junk that can clog up the text and force breaks in it. Oh, heck, yeah.

I actually made something like this when I was in Text & Canon and NTBT at Multnomah. I took the text of one of the gospels, Luke I think, in NIV and removed all verse numbers and section headers. It got real confusing trying to come up with a way to deal with some of the footnote references, but it worked out. I called it the ‘aneu’ edition, because somebody told me that’s greek for ‘without.’

Did the same sort of thing with the high schoolers at Glenwood for a couple of Sundays. Had ‘em sit around a table with a block of text from Philippians, no verses, no paragraphs, no nothing. They had to figure out where the paragraph and chapter breaks went. It was fun to watch.
