Listening to a talk by David Wells (prof from my Theology Survery class a bit ago) at the Desiring God 2006 National Conference (all the talks are available “here”:

Here’s a (paraphrased) nugget in discussing some verses in Hebrews:

bq. The reason the priests were always standing is because there work was never finished. There was always more to be done.

With Christ, He is seen as _sitting_ at the right hand of God because He completed His work. The once-for-all sacrifice left nothing more to be done.

Had never thought of that before. I’m looking forward to being on campus with that guy and possibly taking another class or two from him.

Not sure what to do with Stephen’s speech in Acts 7 when he sees Jesus standing at the right hand of God. That’s always thrown me. Thoughts?
