PC Trivia

October 5, 2006

Your useless PC trivia for the day:

Normally when you hit the ‘Delete’ key, it gets rid of the character to the right of the cursor. You know this.

But if you hold down ‘Shift’ then hit ‘Delete’, it functions the same as the ‘Backspace’ key, getting rid of the character to the left of the cursor.

Woo hoo! Yeah!

Or, you could hit the backspace key…

Oh wait, you said useless. Right.

No, no, see, where to you and I that useless trivia is truly useless, Hutch is of a different breed entirely. I can almost guarantee that within the next two weeks he will have discovered a particular computing task which can have 0.00748 of a second pared off of it by use of the shift-delete rather than the simple backspace. Because that’s the kind of guy he is.

Heh. Fair enough. Does he know that if you Shift + Tab your tab will go the other way? I was excited when I figured that one out. Might not be useless enough though.

Jed, you’re totally right. I am a stud like that.

Slothboy, learned that one back in the day at CNF (now Con-way). Thank you LMS.

    That’sa whaddI’m sayin.

Yeah buddy buddy. Half of the keyboard shortcuts I know I learned at CNF. I still get accolades using alt-tab in front of people who don’t know it
