“Jury hits State Farm for $2.5 million in Katrina case”:http://www.cnn.com/2007/LAW/01/11/katrina.insurance.ap/index.html

I don’t know how I feel about the whole punitive damages thing ($2.5 million??!? Seriously, come on now…), but I am most pleased to see the judge ruled State Farm is liable for $223K in storm damage to the home.

We have State Farm. My uncle is a State Farm agent. Big, big fan. But the way so many people got screwed with Katrina the way they did, this resolves some weird sense of justice in my heart. You too?

Yeah, the punitive damages are stupid. Especially considering that it means that you, Hutch, will pay for them with increased premiums.

Make them pay the damage to the home, but the 2.5M just rewards the lawyers.
