Life Lessons – Quick Roadie

May 8, 2007

Short (in terms of days) road trip this past weekend. Life lessons learned:

  • Learned the term: WoW widow. Seems my brother (who turns 42 this year) is quite enthralled with World of Warcraft, just like his two sons (19 and 16). My sister-in-law Karen is soooo amused. In the 10 minute conversation about the subject, she used this new (to me) term at least three or four times.
  • More and more I learn that Ellie is not afraid to flash a smile. Lizzie, on the other hand, is shy with new people. But after 30 minutes with someone, she’s ready to tickle and hug and play.
  • It’s amazing just how tasty Winchell’s donuts are.
  • Turns out you have to be a member of Sam’s Club to shop there. It’s Walmart’s version of Costco. (Funny story here).
  • Our girls are good travellers (praise the Lord!), but I have to remember that they’re also just kids. You can only push their travel limits so far.
  • After riding in the car for four hours, Lizzie is ready to RUN!
  • I’m still not used to large family gatherings.  Oi.
  • Apparently it’s common place now for hotels (and even motels) to offer free wifi. Cool.
  • Had In-N-Out burger again for the first time in years.  I’m gonna miss those when we’re in MA.
  • Whoever invented the highway rest stop is a genius that needs to be heralded for generations to come.
