How do you explain to a potty-training 2 year old that going poo-poo is not the same thing as farting?

(She calls them the same thing)

    hmmmm….
i don’t know, how do you explain something like that?
seriously, this is probably the hardest part of p.t. and sometimes it doesn’t happen right away….still waiting here under the big top. of course we are dealing with a boy, a boy with special needs.
    good luck!

Tell her farts don’t have lumps! If they do, go to the potty….

Just reinforce. When she says “I pooped!” just go ahead and verify and then say, “No, you just tooted.” If she pooped for realz say “yes you did!”

Thing 2 understands the difference when she does it, but sometimes, if I release some pressure from that region whilst in the living room or something she looks at me and says, “You pooped!” I just laugh.

In other news. Read that dang potter book as fast as you can. I’m dying to discuss the predictions made a while back on this here blog.

    Duly noted all, thanks!

Slothy, regarding your HP request. I’m working on it. I got the book this morning and in very limited time was able to get the first chapter done. I know there is much to go, but tonight should see a good bit of it read.
