Lost: the videogame

What say you? Cool, or how on earth can they put it out when the series is only half way through its maturation?

If they can’t make a decent video game based on a movie, I don’t see how in creation they think they can make one based off of an unfinished tv series. Especially since they are using actual show characters instead of making you part of some kind of background storyline and new character. It will feel hollow because you can’t expect any major revelations from it. It looks like a myst rip off and the graphics are wicked sub par. The character models are horrifyingly flat, as though ripped from a game circa the dark ages of video games… like, 2002 or something.

    I’ll pass for now.

Stargate. Judge Dredd. Jurassic Park (Genesis version was way cool, playing as a raptor. SNES version….it was OK). Riders of Rohan. All the Super Star Wars games (any of the Star Wars games, actually. X-wing vs. Tie Fighter!). T2: The Arcade Game. GOLDENEYE, for crying out loud! Technically, Kingdom Hearts. Goonies 2.

OK, not a massive list, but these are agruably excellent games based off of movie licences. So, it’s possible that a game based off of a TV licence is OK. To be honest, a lot of Japanese games are based off of TV, so there’s mucho precendent for a good game to come from TV.

However, if the CSI games were all unplayable garbage, I doubt a Lost game will be any better. For, as everyone knows CSI > Lost.

You have to admit that the bottom of the barrel comes from the ‘based on the movie!’ genre.

    Home Alone

    BATMAN FOREVER

Home Alone and Batman Forever were not good movies to begin with. Why would the resulting games be any good?

Besides, everyone knows the bottom of the barrel for gaming is this

    Hey, Revolution X was cool.

I didn’t mean games based on movie properties. Most of the Star Wars stuff falls into that category. For example, X-wing is awesome, but “Star Wars Episode III The Game” was stupid.

But Goldeneye did kick a lot of booty. I guess there are exceptions to every rule. In general though, if the game has the same title as the movie or show it is going to blow. They are cash cows though, especially with kids things because they are usually low budget, come out simultaneously for every platform, and are riding the coattails of the movie marketing. Cars, Shrek, Pirates of the Caribbean, Surf’s Up, etc. etc.

It’s a well known fact that Molo’s favorite Batman movie is “Forever”, which featured a certain Barrymore.

(Hey, did ya see what she did on Letterman? *ducks*)

Who played the Adams Family for NES? Huh, yeah? That game rocked!

I actually remember renting that a few times. Or maybe I’m thinking of the SNES game.
    Leaping Gomez!
