King reviews

August 11, 2007

Check out the great review of the HP series, written by none other than Stephen King.  I like the fact he steps back to look at the series as a whole.  He also talks about kids’ reading habits and tips his hat to Rowling’s predecessor, R. L. Stine.  I read a bunch of Stine books growing up; it was a name I had forgotten.  But the plots are slowly trickling back now.  Good memories of car rides and lazy afternoons buried in a book.

Laura, don’t click on the link; I know you’re only in book 4 or 5.  It’ll give away too much perhaps.  Jed and E, you might actually want to read the article.  It’s rather insightful about reading in general.

I’m scared to comment on this one but I did enjoy that article.

    Why are you scared?

because I don’t want to get roped into another debate on the merits of Harry Potter.

I thought the article was well-written, and less about HP and more about magic in reading.

PS- The Dark Tower was the biggest waste of paper in the history of wasting paper.
