For nerds like me who enjoy thinking about what it takes to build a tower that is over 1,000 feet tall, this is a cool read.

    That’s a very cool article — and an extremely cool building. The concept of being able to take an elevator a half a mile into the air absolutely blows my mind.

    Check out Wikipedia’s entry on the Burj Dubai. Especially the cross section graphic.

    But in looking at the pictures at the bottom of the entry… how do you get cranes up that high?
