Midwives

February 5, 2009

Working on translating Exodus 1.  The Hebrew word for “midwives” isn’t actually a noun.  It’s a participle from the verb “to deliver.”  So, the midwives are actually “ones who deliver.”

I don’t know why that strikes me as so cool, but it does.  I love this language.
