Improved

June 13, 2009

Had my MRI on Thursday.  As if the technology of a MRI wasn’t enough, Shields MRI went and made the experience more pleasant for the patient.

No longer is the machine a one-opening tunnel.  It’s now a giant donut.   I’m not claustrophobic, but it definitely was a weird experience last year that wasn’t anywhere on the pleasant scale.  This year?  Easy.  And instead of simple 20 cent ear plugs that you have to bury in your ears to deal with the incredibly loud noises from the machine, they give you noise-canceling headphones into which is pumped XM satellite radio.  I got to listen to U2 (and other similar groups) while I laid on the machine for 20+ minutes.

Not bad, Shields MRI, not bad at all.
